The CIPS Youth Commission is pleased to announce that the CIPS Congress, held in Cairo on 25 April 2026, has approved the project entitled “CIPS Youth World Fishing Competition 2026”, an international initiative aimed at young sport fishing enthusiasts, which will take place from 1 August 2026 to 31 January 2027.

The project was launched with the aim of introducing the younger generation to the world of fishing, offering them the chance to take part in a global competition in an innovative, simple and accessible way. Young people will be able to compete using the Keepnet Way Bay Fishing App, which allows them to record their catches, document them with a video, and enter the species and its length, in centimetres, to compete for a place in the international rankings.

The initiative is open to young anglers divided into two categories: Juniors, aged 10 to 16, and Seniors, aged 17 to 22, including both girls and boys. The disciplines included cover various types of sport fishing, ranging from shore fishing and boat fishing to fly fishing, carp fishing and lure angling. The fish that will be considered for the competition are:

• Black Bass                              –     Skipjack tuna
• Peacock Bass                         –     Mullet
• Carp                                       –     Mackrell
• Bream                                     –     Trevally

• Pike
• Tilapia

The educational and sustainable aspects of the project are also particularly significant: all catches must be correctly measured, video-recorded and subsequently released, thereby promoting the principle of catch and release and a sporting practice that respects the water environment.

The competition therefore represents an important opportunity to encourage young people to get involved, foster a passion for recreational fishing and create a sense of belonging to an international community, united by the shared values of sport, respect, fairness and environmental protection.

All federations are invited to publicise the initiative as widely as possible, with a view to encouraging participation from interested young people and promoting, through this project, the future of recreational fishing.
